The Opportunity
TECKpert’s client, a government agency in Florida, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Computer Operations Manager to join their team in Celebration, FL. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing the daily activities of a technical team, ensuring operational support coverage, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery. This role requires flexibility to work hours between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM, Monday - Friday, and travel between FDOT locations 25% - 40% of the time. Teleworking is not authorized for this position.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Lead and manage the delivery of IT services across the program, ensuring alignment with business needs and service level expectations.
- Manage and coordinate daily activities of the technical team, including project scheduling, monitoring, and incident response.
- Ensure operational support coverage and adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Monitor system performance and availability, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
- Develop, implement, and maintain operational standards, procedures, and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements, including IT policies and security standards.
- Plan and manage the integration and support of new technologies into the environment.
- Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams for seamless deployment and support of systems.
- Oversee the deployment, configuration, and lifecycle management of IT assets, including desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and servers.
- Develop and implement IT service management processes: incident, problem, change, and request management.
- Coordinate and support enterprise-wide software rollouts, updates, and patch management activities.
- Monitor and improve service desk performance, ensuring timely resolution of user issues and high customer satisfaction.
- Provide computer and user support, including installation and configuration of hardware and software, upgrades, patches, and advanced technical support.
- Perform advanced network and telephony support and provide on-site support for remote troubleshooting by other technical staff.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of supervisors, project leaders, and technical staff, conducting performance evaluations, training, and succession planning.
- Provide input on business continuity planning and disaster recovery strategies.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery and customer satisfaction.
Compensation and Term
This opportunity is for a full-time, contract position with possible extensions and pay commensurate with experience up to $155,000 per year. Medical, dental, vision and life insurance available after 30 days of hire.
Qualifications you need
A successful candidate has the following experience:
- Minimum of 7 years of IT work experience, including managing team(s) responsible for production and operations support.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Ability to travel between client locations 25% - 40% of the time.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb a ladder, squat, stoop, push, crawl, and bend in all types of weather.
- Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities in Initiative, Communication, Customer Service, Decision Making, Flexibility, Interpersonal, Leadership, Problem Solving, Team Building, and Quality Assurance.
