The Opportunity

TECKpert is seeking a Senior .NET Solutions Architect to support our client, a state government agency in Tallahassee, FL, on the modernization of its financial systems. This role serves as the primary technical architect for an internal automation platform used by the agency's comptroller office, and provides architectural and development leadership across related financial initiatives tied to a statewide accounting system replacement.

The architect will improve code quality, remediate security vulnerabilities, strengthen the agency's .NET infrastructure, and guide development teams hands on. Work includes reviewing remediated code with SonarQube, replacing legacy AngularJS and Kendo UI components, guiding legacy mainframe to .NET migrations, and partnering with business analysts to perform fit-gap analysis of existing applications against the new statewide financial business process model.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

• Design and document end-to-end application architectures using the Microsoft .NET ecosystem
• Define solution patterns (monolithic, modular monolith, microservices, event-driven) and establish architectural standards, reference architectures, and design guidelines
• Evaluate and recommend technology stacks and frameworks
• Provide technical leadership to development teams and review code, pull requests, and design artifacts for architectural compliance
• Ensure adherence to SOLID principles, clean architecture, and best practices, and support CI/CD pipeline integration and deployment strategies
• Use SonarQube code scanning to improve code quality, security, maintainability, and release readiness
• Modernize legacy UI components, including AngularJS and Kendo UI implementations
• Assess existing systems, guide migrations from legacy JCL, COBOL, and FOCUS to .NET, and prioritize technical debt remediation
• Analyze and document existing computing assets, technical specifications, and business rules, and perform root cause analysis on production issues
• Produce architecture diagrams, technical documentation, and architecture decision records (ADRs), and perform knowledge transfer with internal technical staff

Compensation and Term

This opportunity is for a full-time, contract position with possible extensions and pay commensurate with experience up to $80 per hour or $166,400 per year. Medical, dental, vision and life insurance available after 30 days of hire.

Qualifications you need

A successful candidate has the following experience:

• 7 or more years of experience across multiple IT areas
• 2 to 3 years of relevant application architecture experience
• Advanced to expert knowledge of architecture, application systems design, and integration, specifically in .NET
• C# and ASP.NET Core
• RESTful Web API design and integration patterns
• Entity Framework or other ORM frameworks
• SQL Server and relational database design, data access optimization, and performance tuning
• Clean Architecture, Domain-Driven Design, and event-driven architectures
• Logging, monitoring, observability, reliability, and fault tolerance
• Ability to document technical requirements and bridge technical and business language
• Ability to work onsite 5 days per week in Tallahassee, FL

Preferred (not required)

• .NET Framework and modern .NET (.NET 6 or later)
• Microsoft Azure, including App Insights, Key Vault, and Blob Storage
• CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
• Front-end JavaScript frameworks (Angular, React, or Vue), including AngularJS and Kendo UI modernization
• SonarQube or similar static code analysis tools
• Legacy JCL, COBOL, or FOCUS to .NET migration experience
• Financial systems or ERP experience, ideally state or public sector accounting
• Scrum framework experience
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related field (experience may substitute year for year)
